Buddhaswrath tanking- written randomly so info is all over the place
http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/chara ... ddhaswrath
the gear i normally have on changes a little but not too much I have mob set, main tank set, and healing set depending on the circumstance
my HP ranges fro m 13600-14300 depending on how i am setting up for the day, mana ranges from 5800 to 7000
FOR ALL-always have holy shield up and ALWAYS use blessing of sanctuary, it will aid in threat gen and lessen your dmg taken
for bosses
pull with avenger's shield
judge wisdom
pop avenging wrath (if solo tanking, if it is a boss that requires two tanks, you have to watch it, I have a tendency to out threat anyone else if i do not watch omen closely)
pop consecrate (everytime it comes up)
use SoV (on bosses i use SoV, mobs SoR is fine)
judge SoV every time it comes up
rinse and repeat
for mobs
pull with avenger's shield, and pray that CC can time things to hit after the shield hits
pull back a bit and consecrate careful to keep CC targets out of range
judge SoR or SoW depending if it is trash or a mob that will be up for a bit
use SoR over and over
consecrate, over and over
there are a few other things here and there but that is the basic gist of my tanking style
for pallies, spl dmg and AoE threat gen is paramount, that is what we do, we take LOTS of dmg so we require more heals than prot wars, but we keep lots of mobs occupied
also pray that people are hitting your target, you can keep aggro on tons of mobs, but only if people are not focused on the wrong target
ZA is one place that prot pallies shine also where you can find out if you are geared
one thing to keep in mind, a prot pally can be in the top 10 of overall damage done in a 25 man raid, and still be on heals for the bosses (i prefer to tank, but hey, I can switch out at the boss with no problem)
gear- keep in mind this is for post kara
check mine out
Ideally try for atleast 6k mana
starting out 12-13k health (shoot for 14)
SPL DMG!!!!! min of 400, I like having 500-600 myself, but i look at 500 as gravy
healing a pally tank is mana intensive so cranking out as much dmg as you can is important to alieviate the pressure on the healers by downing the boss fast
102% avoidance this is with HS, block is #1(shoot for about 25%, the trinket from SH helps) parry is #2 and dodge, eh 3rd, block is how we gen threat, dodge imo throws off healing cycles, and we do not get mana back from heals that do nothing
490 def
attack power means virtually nothing to a prot pally so do not worry about it
eh, that is the important stuff, I will organize this a bit more later so lealla and stask do not have heart attacks about how sloppy this was put together
