This sticky thread is intended as a consolidated list of all addons that You and Whose Army officially requires for raiders, as well as those addons that many of our members use and recommend. Raiders are expected to come to raids prepared, and part of coming prepared is having your addons enabled and up to date. If at all possible, please try to avoid having to log out 15 minutes into a run because you forgot to enable something. If you're a procrastinator, the interval between raid invites and raid start is a good time to check and make sure everything's working.
Note: in some cases, the raid leaders may ask members to download a critical update or new addon in the middle of a run; this is obviously an exception to the above rule.
Posts in this thread will be kept strictly on topic. Feel free to list anything I forgot, but this should not turn into a general request or discussion thread.
ALERT: As of the 3.0 patch, the WoWAce site is no longer distributing addons. I have updated most of the links but not all of them are tested. If you find a more up-to-date version of an addon on another site, let me know.
Addon Sites and Downloaders
Please note that YaWA does not specifically endorse any third-party websites or addon updating software. By using any such software, you should be aware that you are exposing your computer to possible security risks, and that it is up to you, not us, to keep your computer safe. Addons themselves, however, cannot contain malware.
- WoWAce: WoWAce is now defunct. The code repository, updater, and addons have all been absorbed by Curse.
- Curse: Main Page, Downloads Page
- Curse Client: Info and Download
The new Curse updater is very nice and contains both automatic and manual install features, plus most of the former WoWAce addons are now available through it. - WoWInterface: Main Page
- WoWUI @ IncGamers: Main Page
Many of our required addons have alternatives available, such as Bigwigs for DBM, or any number of addons for Decursive (Grid/Healbot/etc.). Where such alternatives are considered acceptable, they will be noted. Unless otherwise specified, we require you to use the addon listed below.
- Boss Mod
- Deadly Boss Mods: Info and Download Page
- Bigwigs Boss Mods: Info and Download Page
These addon package contains all necessary boss mods for raiding. You only need to use one - having both may cause conflicts and reduce performance. Note: DBM version 4 is in beta; the release version of Bigwigs is more stable in 3.0.2.
Raid Manager - oRA2: Info and Download Page
oRA2 has replaced CT_RaidAssist as our recommended raid management addon. CTRA is acceptable, but you should consider upgrading.
Threat Meter - Omen: Info and Download Page
As of 3.0, threat meters merely report the information provided by the client rather than calculating it on their own. It's still useful to know your exact threat values, however.
Bid/DKP management - Bidder: Info and Download Page
- Bidder_BossAuction: Info and Download Page
You must have both of these addons or you may not be eligible to receive loot.
Note: As of this edit, Bidder has not been updated to WoW 3.0. You must install the updated Ace2 standalone library from Curse to allow Bidder to work.
Raid Frames + Decurse/Healing Assist - Decursive: Info and Download Page
- Grid: Info and Download Page
- Healbot: Info and Download Page
- X-Perl: Info and Download Page
- Clique: Info and Download Page
All classes that can remove debuffs must have the ability to view all debuffed raid members and quickly cleanse/decurse/abolish them. This can be done in one addon (like Decursive) or with a set of raid frames and a key/mouse-binding addon such as Healbot or Clique.
Encounter-specific addons - VoidReaverAlarm: Download Page (This custom version works now for patch 2.4.3.)
- SolarianAlarm: Download Page (Or just don't blow up the raid.)
If you still use the default Blizzard action bars, party/raid frames, and map, we'll probably razz you about it until you get something better. See below for recommendations.
- Party/Raid Frames
- X-Perl: Info and Download Page
This frame replacement addon is very versatile and is highly recommended by many of our players.
Buff management - ZOMGBuffs: Info and Download Page
This is a very powerful buffing addon that allows everyone to easily see and recast their buffs. The BlessingManager component is backwards compatible with PallyPower, but includes more features. While this is not absolutely required, it's extremely useful and we'll get on your case if you can't manage your buffs.
Mapping/Guild Communication - Gatherer: Info Page, Download Page
Remembers the location of all mining, herb, and treasure nodes you encounter, and shares that information with the guild. - Cartographer: Info and Download Page
- Cartographer 3.0: Info and Download Page
Replaces the default map, provides coordinates, instance maps, tracks quests, and shows the locations of all guild members who also have this addon. Versatile and modular. The new 3.0 version is still under development but presents the map in a zoomable Google Earth style. - Recipe Book: Info and Download Page
Tracks everything you can craft and shares that information with guild members. Reduces the constant "who can craft X?" questions in guild chat. - CraftList2: Info and Download Page
Lets people whisper you queries to get links to recipes you can craft.
Miscellaneous - FuBar: Info and Download Page
Provides a set of bars at the top and/or bottom of your screen where addons can "plug in". This cleans up most of your minimap icons, as well as providing for some very useful information displays. Many addons plug into it automatically, and there are modules for those that don't. - DoTimer: Info and Download Page
Provides bars to track your DoTs, HoTs, and cooldowns. - Clique: Info and Download Page
This addon allows you to bind spells to modified mouse clicks on unit frames. It's most effective for healers, as it frees you from having to keep your heals on hotkeys. - Autobar: Info and Download Page
This addon automatically generates action bars for class and generic actions, such as trinkets, food, pots/elixirs, healthstones, mounts, hearthstones, minipets, fishing, tradeskills, and lots of other things that you don't want cluttering up the limited number of action buttons on the built-in Blizzard bars.
