that is a very highly rated cpu cooler. havn't used it myself, but i know the phenomII chips run really cool. you'll probably be able to hit 3.8 with the cooler. from what i've heard the FX oc's better than the GX. but, i can't quantify that, and the FX costs more. (im talking chipset).

I don't think the oc gains from the FX chipset are worth it considering I got the open box MB for $95. The M4A79T is $185, I can live without a few extra mhz.

I've had my new rig up and running for a few days now. Windows 7 has been rock solid so far. Here's the sexy cpu cooler and ram:
Here's my windows 7 score and overclock:
This system also scored a 13k in 3dmark, not too shabby. With the sunbeam cooler, my cpu never breaks 40C even under load. I think I have a lot more overclocking headroom left, I might be able to hit around 3.8ghz

so... question. i attempted to install 7 on the same mobo (4770's may be the annoying point..) and i couldn't get the chipset drivers to install, at all. i threw xp on the system not a hitch.... just curious what you did...
also too bad you couldn't fit your memory in the close bank... probably get a lil better oc on the ram... what volts/timings/speed you running the ram.
also which bios are you using atm?

I actually didn't install any drivers, I'm running whatever windows detected and installed automatically. Everything seems to be running as it should. I'm not sure about the bios, I've always been nervous about bios updates, plus if it ain't broke... The ram is running at stock timings/speed, 7-7-7-16-27. I'm still getting things set up how I want. I need to bump my 3.4ghz oc a bit more and oc the ram.
Just checked cpu-z, my bios is version 0801.
